How To Scroll Without The Spiral

As a creator, scrolling and consuming other people's content isn't optional, it's part of the job. The goal isn't to stop looking, it's to look without letting it wreck your day.

Tip 1: Set a reason before you open the app.

Decide what you're there for, research, inspiration, or checking a specific account, before you start scrolling.

Do this: Give yourself a 2 minute timer or a specific task ("find 3 hook ideas") before you open the app. When the timer's up or the task's done, close it.

Tip 2: Mute the accounts that make you feel behind.

You don't have to unfollow, but you don't have to see everything either.

Do this: Mute (not unfollow) any account that consistently leaves you comparing instead of learning. Muting removes the feed pressure without the social awkwardness of unfollowing.

Tip 3: Turn what you see into one action before you close the app.

Inspiration that goes nowhere becomes a spiral. Inspiration that turns into a note becomes fuel.

Do this: Before closing the app, save, screenshot, or jot down one specific idea from what you just watched. If nothing's worth saving, that's your sign to close the app now.

Scrolling is part of the job. Let it inform your work, not define your worth.
